UDPP vs. TFSI

I guess a lot of beauty bloggers had done the showdown for both of these. But I'm actually more interested to test it myself as I live in a Tropical Country, who only has 2 season in a year. Rainy and Sunny! I'm glad I had the chance to try on both primers though both are NOT available in our country.

And I'm happy to report I've got results! Well readers, these are my eyes, my lids, my eyeshadows, do NOT take my word for it, some products would work on you but not for me or vice versa :) The report is based on MY experience using MY set of eyes!

I'll report back with Askmewhats Revisits if something happened that would make me change my mind :)

Here's the look I've created using UDPP and TFSI as labeled on the photo. It isn't a heavy eye make up as it's regular office days, so I'm on neutrals.

Not bad huh? Looks like there's no difference,
Read on for reviews and showdown photos

Askmewhats specs ---

lids: not oily
e/s staying power without base: does not last, stays on max 2 hours
problems encountered: bad base or no base would cause my e/s to line on the crease (visibly)
testing period: done the 2 base eye make up look for 4 days straight, shifting bases on different eyes and different e/s brands are used

Askmewhats says ---

Pros

UDPP
  • e/s stays put for long hours
  • e/s are vibrant
  • dries up on lid quickly, shorter time to do your e/s application
TFSI
  • packaging is wonderful, I love the squeeze tube
  • creamy, easy to apply
  • can easily share to other people and still remains hygienic
  • you have more time to spread this out as this doesn't dry up too quickly on lids

Cons

UDPP
  • since my lids do not produce a lot of oil, applying too much will cause my lids to dry or flaky
  • bad packaging, cannot share using a wand unless you already decant this

TFSI
  • have to wait for a couple of seconds to dry before applying e/s
  • e/s creases a bit on me and some parts, the e/s are gone

Overall

Photos speak thousand words, so I'll show photos first
Here's a simple Stila Quad look after 10 hours

Found any differences?
I actually did!
It's not as huge of a difference with the other showdown

But I circled the differences
and read on for more in-depth review

  • UDPP definitely holds my e/s longer than TFSI
  • You may think that it's after 10 hours, so I should give TFSI a break right? WRONG, the look on photo for TFSI is like that even right after 2-3 hours of e/s application, but the good thing, it didn't go worse, it just stayed that way until I remove it
  • For people with oilier lids, UDPP definitely is the answer as I've tested UDPP on oily lids (more than 5) and I got the same answer from all of them, it was tested to hold on the e/s without creasing and without fading for hours and hours!
  • I am honestly not confident to use TFSI on oily lids especially if they are my clients as minimal creasing happened to me, and I have to remember the fact that I have dry lids.
  • that TFSI is great for cooler season (winter in other countries) while UDPP is perfect for the warm season (summer)

Violent reactions?
I hope not! :)
But share your thoughts!
Have a wonderful day!
Thanks God It's Friday!!!
Stay happy!

Askmewhats Reviews: The Face Shop Top Coat

Everyone read my post as I was raving about Sally Hansen Base and Top Coat. (Smile and click review here) I did say I don't mind paying a couple of pesos more as this works as a base and top coat, multi-function product! But of course, I'm sure there are still readers out there who felt queasy to shell out that much, that's why I searched for an alternative. And you know what? I've found an alternative and it works even BETTER. The only thing is, I haven't tried this as base. I find this better as a top coat as compared to my Sally Hansen.

And what product got my raves?
no other than...

The Face Shop Top Coat!

(The reason why my nail art tutorials are not that frequent as before
because my polish stays longer! hahaha)

TFS Top Coat says ---

When you apply it to your nail color it penetrates all the way down to the nail bed to create a bond so strong that you can truly forget about your nail color chipping or peeling.

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • nail polish is definitely glossy and shinier. I would say the best top coat I've tried up to date.
  • nail polish stays without chip for more than a week!!! Because my work entails me to type all day, I type hard with the speed of 80wpm, lol my pinky on both hands chip first right after 3-4 days, with this top coat, it stays more than a week til it starts to chip a bit!
  • inexpensive
Cons
  • not all countries have The Face Shop products available
  • NADA!
Overall

I can't believe the shine it gives, I've literally used Sally Hansen on one hand and TFS Top Coat on the other, TFS wins hands down for gloss and shine. I also can't believe that it really prevents chipping or peeling. I'm glad "hard work" in nail art can stay longer than a week.

What I like more about Sally Hansen though, are their brushes! Nothing compares the lovely NYLON nail polish brush from Sally Hansen. But TFS polish brushes are work-able.

This is my HG top coat --------- FOR NOW! lol I'm open for challengers! hahaha

Tips
  • I personally haven't tried TFS Base Coat, but if it works, it's still cheaper to buy 2 separate Base and Top Coat as compared to Sally Hansen's.
  • Always make sure to let the colored polish or nail art (if you're doing one) to dry first before you further apply top coat, so your polish won't blend with the top coat making the polish not too shiny.
  • Apply the tips of your nails too, it will further protect your nails! Promise!
  • Always make sure to twist the polish well so it won't dry up fast
  • Never apply polish in front of an electric fan or air-conditioner
Will I repurchase?

YES!

Where can you purchase and how much?

At any The Face Shop stores for Php99.00 (Approx $2.00)

Now Now,
I am expecting most of you will let me know their HG Top Coat!
Keep the ball rolling!
What's your favorite top coat?
Or you don't use one at all? lol
Stay happy!

Note from Author: Heavy photos. Get your fingers ready to keep on scrollin' :D
Photos watermarked are photographed by my Hubby, photos without watermark are taken from Rhea's hubby Nap. Thanks for the shots, Nap!

At long last! I was able to resize the shots! And here I am telling you what happened to the Askmewhats Seminar for a Cause last January 31st.

I want to give a shoutout of thanks to all my lovely friends who help post about the seminar on their respective blogs and multiply account!

I would also like to thank the So Loverly girls for paying a slot even though they won't be able to attend due to location issue, thanks for the help!!! Kahani and Syen, Love ya girls! And also an Angel out there, you know who you are -- thanks!!!!

And here's a shot of US in the middle of the seminar
It proves we're always ready to take a pose ANYTIME! lol

We started the seminar with getting to know each other. Girls who share the same passion gets to be comfortable with each other in an instant! And I meant "snap your finger" kind of instant :D

We started the seminar with talks about skincare, because that's a very important step to create a good canvass to start make-up application.

Afterwards, we talk about Foundation. Choosing the right shades and we also did foundation application to some of the girls half of their faces.

Please click to enlarge, foundation applied at the left side
(when looking at the photo)

Model: Crystal

We did concealer application as well on areas we want to conceal
Used MUFE palette as requested by the attendee

Applied on the left side of the face

We also talked about techniques
on cutting and drawing beautiful brows

Contouring and Highlighting of course won't be forgotten

And the girls had fun on their own :)
Love it that they're so interactive
Sharing product reviews,
testing on the products they brought

Eye make up!
Everyone's excited to do eye make up
as we all have our own eye looks we want to achieve!

One request on eye makeup application ---
"How to make the eye appear bigger"

And how to enhance naturally beautiful eyes

Full Face Make-up application

Model: Nina
(still young at 19)

We also have discussion on products
Tips to share on how to achieve better looking make-up
We also share the wonderful finds we have :)
A lot of product testing!

I also want to give a shoutout of thanks to my bestie Hennie, who owns Cosmetique Asia, maker of Silka products. She gave out samples of Silka Papaya soap and lotion and magazines for the ladies!

Another shot this time with Nap (hubby of Rhea)
Who was kind enough to take shots for this event too

I had a great time girls!
Thank you!

And last but not the least,
A special person who supports me all these years.
Keith was there for the event,
he actually took a leave from an important training to be with me on this event,
he knew how important this is for me and he wants the attendees to be well taken care of.
Thank you so much Keith!!! Love you sweetie!

*whew*
I can't believe I can finish this post! Thanks for reading and for taking part of the special event with me --- Even by reading :) I know you gals out there who are far away but wishes me well!
Thanks for all the support, the love I receive. I can't thank everyone enough!

I told the attendees that I did this event not because I see myself as a "professional" or "a great" make-up artist. I did this event because I love my friends and I would always be ready to extend a helping hand for them. But of course, helping is great if you do it with an open heart. This event opened up my eyes as well, I learned a lot from the girls too!

*sniff*

Now I'm getting mushy :D

But thanks again! Love ya all!!!
Stay Happy!
