NEW! Too Faced Better Than Sex Doll Lashes Mascara

Ah, Sephora Philippines recently sent me their newest Mascara available on their website from Too Faced.

Too Faced Cosmetics has been around for so many years and as much as I have great experience with their makeup products —- easpecially their eyeshadows.  I haven’t tried a single mascara from the brand so this was perfect timing!

One thing I checked, this mascara is ophthalmologist-tested, which is good as I have very sensitive eyes ! SO I made sure I was clear on that department before I further test this product.  I have used this mascara for a total of 7 times for 7 days!  And here’s what I have to say!

Sephora PH website description:

What it is:

A mascara that stretches your lashes to dramatic lengths and defies gravity with 24-hour curl.

What it does:

This mascara was created to stretch and lift lashes to their sexy limits. The slim brush was designed to help maximize the length and curl of straight lashes as it hugs the natural curvature of the lash line, reaching to the roots of lashes to deliver dramatic volume while helping separate lashes with fanned bristles. This non-smudging, warm water washable formula gives you weightless volume and long, lush lashes so amazing, they’re… BETTER THAN SEX!

My first-try was a good experirence because I like how the tube was heavy enough for me to have a nice “grip”.  Overall, the packaging and the look earn a good thumbs up from me, well considering the price, at least they made it look really good and expensive!

On to the wand, I like the curve side of the brush making it easier for me to reach the bottom part of my lashes which I hardly ever do.

On first layer, I can easily see the lenghtening, it may not look obvious on photos but in person, I can see my lashes increased in length and it darkened my lashes at some point.  Not WOW type of volume but good enough to see the effect.

Bear in mind that I have super thin, sparse lashes so this is the best before and after photo I took.  I can imagine girls having thick and full lashes to fully enjoy the benefits of using this mascara.

What I noticed from this mascara is the nice formulation - non-clumping no matter how many layers I applied!  I was surprised how it can curl up my lashes as well even without using an eyelash curler.  The formulation is lightweight and my lashes stayed lifted the whole day!
Good news is, no smudging even if I worked out and cooked on a steamy kitchen!

Better Than Sex…STEAMY..what a nice combo!  *laugh*

Top Contouring Picks from Sephora

So you've probably seen me posted this on my Social Media Accounts.  I was so inspired to create a special blog post for this because I was asked so many times about the 3 Contour/Highlight Powders I got from Sephora.

First things first, I shopped these online and they were delivered straight to my doorstep in less than 2 weeks.  All the products were bubble-wrapped properly and I got everything in good condition.  So kudos to Sephora team for that.

My picks from Sephora ranging from below Php1,000, below Php2,000 and below Php3,000.

AMW Version: "Some Kinda Blue, Some Kinda Purple" Eyes

Ahhh, I can't keep track on the days!  Time is definitely flying super fast, the week went ok, it's finally Thursday!  Friday is just around the corner and I'm looking into a busy weekend!  I am actually looking forward for my brother's arrival!  He'll be coming back for vacation and I'm excited about it!

Today, I will be sharing an AMW Version, I call this "Some kinda blue, some kinda purple" look because the purple eyeshadow I used has a tiny specks of blue that would show up as blue on some angles on camera!  This is as usual, perfect for day time but also for night time if you want by packing up more colors!

I just realized, that I have a very distinct line on my lids that looked like I've gone through surgery! *laughs*  Beauty Blogger Jess actually asked me about it!  No surgeries though, if ever I did, I'll make it more "deep set" *lol* But I don't plan to because nothing would make me go through that!  I'm just a coward that way!  hehehe

AMW Diagram

Prior to eyeshadow application, you can choose to apply your favorite eye primer.  In this tutorial, I am using the Too Faced Shadow Insurance.

Step 1:
Using a flat shader brush of your choice, I applied a light peachy eyeshadow from the Sleek Graphite Palette all over the lids including the brow bone area.

Step 2:
Using the free sponge applicator that goes with the palette, I packed on the "dark purple" eyeshadow from the Sleek Graphite Palette all over lid area going a bit beyond.  I also include the 3/4 portion of the lower lash line as shown on diagram above.

Step 3:
With my MAC's 226 brush or any "crease/blending" brush that has a pointed tip, I applied Shimmery Black Eyeshadow from the same palette on top of the "purple shadow" done on Step 2 packing on colors until it creates gradient effect (upwards).  At this stage, I am taking time blending and adding up shades as I move back and check my reflection!

Step 4:
Using a Bent Liner Brush from Coastal Scents, I applied MakeupMasala Gel Liner in Inky Black on the upper lash line with a slight winged effect.

** The thing with using Gel Liners, or Liquid liners above the lash line, there's a white space that needs to be covered so I tightlined with Make Up For Ever's Aqua Eyes in Black.

Step 5:
Using Maybelline Eyestudio Vivid & Smooth Liner in Purple, apply it directly on waterline.  Make sure the pencil is not too sharp!

Step 6:
Highlight the inner corner of your eyes with a shimmery white eyeshadow or in this tutorial, I am using Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Yeyo.

I added a bit on the brow bone area and blended the shimmery white pencil for that "bigger eyed" look.

Use an eyebrow pencil of your choice to fill in those brows,
curl my lashes then applied 3 coats of
Etude House Proof 10 Henna Fix Mascara in Black

You can choose to apply falsies for a dramatic effect

What's on the rest of my face?

Revlon's Age Defying 2 Way Foundation with Botafirm in Buff

On Cheeks:
MAC's Gel Blush in Just a Pinch
Applied MAC's MSF Blushin SuperDuperNatural!

On Lips:
L'Oreal Colour Riche in Peach Blush
Stage Lipgloss in 12 Sophia

Smile and even without makeup,
you'll look great!

*P.S. My skin is "glowy" in this photo as I have created a tutorial on creating glowy skin and I had to apply a lot for it to register on cam.

Have you sported any colored eye makeup looks lately?
I have to admit, I haven't much, I just did a couple of bright eyed makeup for tutorials
But there's no reason to doll up for now! :)

Keep smilin'
Stay happy!

Askmewhats Version: "Wispy Look"

Back to work! I'll be going to work for 2 days this week then off for holidays again. For the rest of you who doesn't know, it's the Lenten season! A lot of people will be off to their hometown or off for vacation so Manila will be "surprisingly" quiet! It's the best play to drive around Manila this time of the year.

I have done a look using MAC pigment. Yes, I am not a pigment user but if I want a look that has impact, I do go for pigments because it always comes out vibrant and lively! :)

Here's my final version :D

And of course

The Askmewhats Diagram

I've primed my lids with Too Faced Shadow Insurance (thanks Shen), then use CS White Gel Liner all over lids as the base for pigments. Apply the white gel liner with a taklon brush then spread the gel liner all over lids with fingers to even it out.

Step 1:

Using MAC242 brush or any flat shader brush that's made of taklon, pat on MAC pigment in Vintage Gold on lid area going right above the crease. Use patting motion.

Step 2:

Using MAC 217 brush or any blending brush, I applied Ulta's e/s in Galaxy (thanks Toma), or any glittery black e/s on the outer v. Blending inward.

Step 3:

Pat on Makeup Masala Mineral in Tuta, a bright goldish yellow color) on the center of the lid with patting motion. Blend all 3 colors together, adding the colors as you go on depending on your preference.

Step 4:

Using my Digital Angel's palette, I applied the matte nude e/s color on the browbone going to the inner corner of the eye sweeping as I go on making sure there's no harsh lines.

Step 5:

Using CS White Angled Liner, or any liner brush you're comfortable with, apply a black gel liner all over the upper lashline going for the lower lash line. I am using CS True Black gel liner on this look.

Step 6:

Apply MAC pigment in Vintage gold on the lower lashline. Using CS White Gel Liner, apply it on the inner V of the eye to make the eyes pop.

Apply falsies if desired!
I am using 017 falsies bought from Landmark
Used Ardell Lash glue
with my tweezer

Applied P&J curly mascara in Black

Fill in your brows!
Voila!
Final "wispy" look

And of course...
what's on the rest of my face?

For the Face

Paul & Joe Creamy Foundation no. 30
Paul & Joe Dual Powder Foundation no. 30

For the Cheeks

Contour and highlight
with
MAC Grand Duo in Light over Dark
78pcs palette 2nd blush color in Pink
on the apples of the cheeks

For the Lips

Line the lips with
MAC Ginger Root
MAC Viva Glam V

To make the lips pop

I applied a bit on the gold color
of Bath & Body Lip gloss

on the center of the lips

for 3D effect

And I'm saying HELLO to everyone!

And before I end this post, I want to add that on my CS Gel Liner in White post, some commented on wanting me to show them how to use the white gel liners for the eyes. I don't use them to line them all over my eyes. I use the White Gel Liner as ---

1. creamy base
2. line the waterline then top with eyeliner to make it last longer

3. use it on the inner corner of the eye for a wide awake look (just like photo below)

See how obvious the effect is?

It's even more effective
if you top it with a white e/s!

Hope i was able to answer the query of my readers!
and I hope this EOTD and FOTD brighten up your day! :)
Enjoy your day!
Keep smiling!

Stay happy!

UDPP vs. TFSI

I guess a lot of beauty bloggers had done the showdown for both of these. But I'm actually more interested to test it myself as I live in a Tropical Country, who only has 2 season in a year. Rainy and Sunny! I'm glad I had the chance to try on both primers though both are NOT available in our country.

And I'm happy to report I've got results! Well readers, these are my eyes, my lids, my eyeshadows, do NOT take my word for it, some products would work on you but not for me or vice versa :) The report is based on MY experience using MY set of eyes!

I'll report back with Askmewhats Revisits if something happened that would make me change my mind :)

Here's the look I've created using UDPP and TFSI as labeled on the photo. It isn't a heavy eye make up as it's regular office days, so I'm on neutrals.

Not bad huh? Looks like there's no difference,
Read on for reviews and showdown photos

Askmewhats specs ---

lids: not oily
e/s staying power without base: does not last, stays on max 2 hours
problems encountered: bad base or no base would cause my e/s to line on the crease (visibly)
testing period: done the 2 base eye make up look for 4 days straight, shifting bases on different eyes and different e/s brands are used

Askmewhats says ---

Pros

UDPP
  • e/s stays put for long hours
  • e/s are vibrant
  • dries up on lid quickly, shorter time to do your e/s application
TFSI
  • packaging is wonderful, I love the squeeze tube
  • creamy, easy to apply
  • can easily share to other people and still remains hygienic
  • you have more time to spread this out as this doesn't dry up too quickly on lids

Cons

UDPP
  • since my lids do not produce a lot of oil, applying too much will cause my lids to dry or flaky
  • bad packaging, cannot share using a wand unless you already decant this

TFSI
  • have to wait for a couple of seconds to dry before applying e/s
  • e/s creases a bit on me and some parts, the e/s are gone

Overall

Photos speak thousand words, so I'll show photos first
Here's a simple Stila Quad look after 10 hours

Found any differences?
I actually did!
It's not as huge of a difference with the other showdown

But I circled the differences
and read on for more in-depth review

  • UDPP definitely holds my e/s longer than TFSI
  • You may think that it's after 10 hours, so I should give TFSI a break right? WRONG, the look on photo for TFSI is like that even right after 2-3 hours of e/s application, but the good thing, it didn't go worse, it just stayed that way until I remove it
  • For people with oilier lids, UDPP definitely is the answer as I've tested UDPP on oily lids (more than 5) and I got the same answer from all of them, it was tested to hold on the e/s without creasing and without fading for hours and hours!
  • I am honestly not confident to use TFSI on oily lids especially if they are my clients as minimal creasing happened to me, and I have to remember the fact that I have dry lids.
  • that TFSI is great for cooler season (winter in other countries) while UDPP is perfect for the warm season (summer)

Violent reactions?
I hope not! :)
But share your thoughts!
Have a wonderful day!
Thanks God It's Friday!!!
Stay happy!

Weekend Food Tripping at: Luk Foo + Reviews to come

Hi everyone,

I had a busy weekend, and my whole Sunday consists of me...EATING, EATING and EATING lol This food post was last weekend's food trip. I didn't have the chance to post the current one as I'm stuffing my face with food and I can't think straight LOL

Over the weekend, everyone knew about the seminar I've held and so far, it went great, I'm lucky to have met wonderful girls in person.

I also bought my full size Ellana Intensive Foundation in French Vanilla. After trying a sample size from Shen, I love it so much! I have to purchase a full size :D See my review here

Shen was nice enough to give me a sample of Make It Last Make Up Primer! This is new!!! I have to test this ASAP :D

She also knew I'd love to give throwdown between UDPP and TFSI! Now I have my own Too Faced Shadow Insurance!!! :) I'll be using it religiously! I love my UDPP but I've been curious about TFSI because it was said to be better for people with dry lids <--- points to myself!!! I kinda know who wins now, but I have to do more tests before I do the showdown. So please wait for that as well :D

After the seminar, one of the participant, Gale handed me a gift. I felt so touched as she shouldn't have to. But the note she written warms my heart. Gale, thank you so much!!!! Here's the goodies she gave me :D

L-R By Nature "No Bites Bar", Ellana Lip Color in Romance and Ellana Hair Gloss

Can't wait to try them!!! Thanks so much!!!

----------------------------------------------------

Let me go to the Weekend Food Tripping :D

When I have the chance to shop for groceries at PureGold, I'll definitely have dinner at Luk Foo Restaurant nearby. It's a wonderful Cantonese cuisine and the price is just right :)

If you haven't had the chance to try their dishes, what are you waiting for??? YOU HAVE TO! :D

My favorite Tofu Dish with Minced Pork :)

Roast Pork Rice Topping :)

And my favorite Mango Sago Desert :)

Luk Foo has opened up a lot of branches
and if you live near Paranaque or the airport area,
check out Luk Foo HOTPOT.
I love their Hot Pot!

I can't count the number of times I've dine in this restaurant.
My whole family loves to eat here! :)
I'll probably dine in here again one of these days
Thanks again for the wonderful readers who asked about the seminar and for the well wishes!
I'll post about it soon!!!
I really had fun!!!!
Have a wonderful week ahead everyone!
Stay Happy!!!
