Weekend Staycation at: Discovery Suites Ortigas

Is it possible to be treated like a Royalty in local hotels nowadays?
I used to say, IMPOSSIBLE!  Why?  Because no matter how high the star rating of a hotel is, customer service for me really comes from the heart.  (Coming from a customer service gal!)  I can say I give great customer service in my work because it is in my nature to be extra helpful!  And if staffs in a hotel don't have that, even with proper training, yes, you can still get good customer service but not the exceptional, "with a heart" kind!

And guess what?  I recently found it!  At Discovery Suites, Ortigas.

If you guys follow me on Instagram, you probably know by now how much of a busy gal I am!  On weekends, I'm always out for makeup training, makeup gigs, if I'm not working, I'd be accompanying my mom or dad for check-ups or take Kyle Nash to his Pedia!

I've been itching to use the gift certificate I got from Discovery Suites for sharing my "Motherhood story".  It was until I flipped through my "Planner" and finally saw ONE WEEKEND Free, I immediately called the hotel and booked for our stay just to get over with the vacation!  (Yeah, I wasn't as excited because there's no vacation being a mommy you know!)

Prior to arriving to the hotel,  the universe was telling us to really work hard for a vacation!  *laughs*  We had a flat tire and poor Mr. AMW had to change tire right around EDSA!  It was scorching hot and I had a screaming toddler who was cranky because he was extremely sleepy!  Yeah, there goes our vacation!

We arrived the hotel at 4:00pm instead of the "timed" 3:00pm!  We were an hour late and we weren't expecting anything but just to get to wash our hands, change, lift our legs a bit as I feed my son and leave the hotel to take him to a Play Area at Robinson's Galleria.

As soon as we entered the hotel lobby, we were greeted by friendly staffs and registration was a breeze!  Our things (for an overnight, we had 3-4 bags!  lol) were picked by the hotel staff as I sat on a chair trying to regain my energy from achy arms as my son ain't light anymore!  I was immediately offered a bottle of water which refreshed not only my body but heart!  THANK YOU!  I needed that!

Since my son had an hour nap and obviously hungry, I took my chance to ask for high chair and it was a relief to know they can bring a high chair in our room!  YAY!

CHILD FINALLY LOCKED IN AND SAFE!  I can check out the room!

I immediately spotted fruits and pastries all ready for us to enjoy!  Whew, I was indeed hungry from the trip!

Then someone knocked at our door and gave me a bouquet of flowers!  Awww, you can now look at the beautiful flowers, not my stressed no make up face!

Cover Girl Ready, Set Gorgeous Base Makeup Review

If there's one drugstore brand that gives me the warm fuzzy feeling, it is Cover Girl!  I believe I've shared to you my Cover Girl "tambay" story a couple of blog posts ago!  Yes, I was a Cover Girl SM Sta. Mesa branch tambay way back and I've purchased a lot of Cover Girl make up using my hard-earned salary from the Airlines a decade and a half ago!  So seeing this brand coming up with new and better collection excites me!  I felt proud for the brand because I used to memorize all their products...and now, I can't keep track!

Jinkie, Brand Manager of Cover Girl, is also a good friend because we hit it off after I've done a project with them during the BDJ fair!  I missed the Bloggers' Event of Ready Set Gorgeous but she was kind enough to bring the set for me to try when we met up for coffee!

I've used all 3 on my previous Photo-torial on Office Ready makeup and after months, I'm finally ready to share my thoughts on each product.

And yes, I used drugstore makeup for Office Ready makeup because I can still remember how I started with drugstore makeup!  I may own a lot of makeup now from different brands for professional use but I still go back to using drugstore brands personally because some are really good!  Why would I pay for if I can get the same good quality at fraction of the price?

The Ready Set Gorgeous includes ---
  • Fresh Complexion Oil-Free Foundation
  • Oil-Free Concealer
  • Fresh Complexion Oil-Free Powder Foundation

Let's start with the Fresh Complexion Oil Free Foundation.  I got shade 105 (Classic Ivory)
Thankfully, this foundation is housed in my favorite foundation packaging of all time!  A simple tube where I can easily squeeze out the right amount of product I need!

AMW Reviews: Sleek Blush in Rose Gold + Online Shopping at Luxola

Hi AMW Friends!  I realized something today that I want to share!
Choosing a blush whenever I go out excites me!  It was funny how I call my good friend Paris B of My Women Stuff a Blush Whore!  I realized, I am turning into one!  Well, I think I am one, I just didn't realize it until today!

It was the day when I received 3 blushes I ordered from Luxola, I was staring at the 3 blushes I got from the packaging down to the color on pan!  I was forcing myself not to swatch or touch it because it wasn't photographed yet!  Then as I was stressed with my day job, I lined all the blushes I own (together with the new one of course) right in front of me and I was immediately transported to a "Good Mood Land"!  Do you feel the same?  Or am I plain crazy?

So obviously, I gave Mr. AMW this "pretty please?" look and he immediately photographed all my new blushes and here I am, using all 3 blushes like crazy over last week and this week!  So I'm sharing my new blush #1.  The brand isn't new to me but the color is!

Come on!  You have to admit, my cheeks are glowing!!!  Such a pretty shade noh?

How To: Give Yourself a Subtle Makeover!

You know how it is when you do your makeup on a daily basis and you wished you will look at least a bit different on special days?

Well, you can!  And that doesn't entail you to pile on MORE makeup, instead, try to be adventurous and do something different, change a bit of your "usual" makeup routine.

Okay...let me think...I usually like to wear bright lipstick sans eye makeup!  So, if I plan to go on a special event or I need to have my photo taken and I wanted to look nice....this is my game plan to change the way I look..in a very subtle manner.

  1.  I normally wear concealer then set with powder.  For a change, I'll go for full yet still a natural-looking coverage.
  2. Instead of the usual thick brows, I'll leave my brows looking natural and soft.  No harsh lines there!
  3. I will wear a bit more eye makeup.
  4. Instead of the usual dark lips, I'll go for very light colored lipstick!
  5. I tend to shy away frome xtremely pink colored blush, so I'll use it this time!
But please..don't ask me to remove the highlighting part..it is my favorite! Just give it to me okay? :P

Lipsticks For The Day: Mary Kay True Dimension Sheer Lipsticks in Subtly You and Magenta Chill

Good day everyone!  So today, you will finally see my forehead!  *laughs*  Seriously, I haven't been comfortable showing my forehead because they are quite "huge"!  (That explains why I'm brainy!  *winks*)  From nursery to college or even when I was working, I seldom pulled my bangs back like the photo below so think of this post as a "treat" for you my dear readers! :P  You guys are special!

On a serious note, I think I am of age wherein I openly accept my flaws!  I guess, I am super comfortable in my own skin now because I'm married!  #harharhar  Okay, I'm joking again, but I guess confidence comes not only of age but confidence comes when you start to love and accept yourself!  I accepted the idea that I'm no "artista" and won't ever be a "model material" but I accepted the fact that God gave me all "functional" body parts and I am very happy and grateful for that!

Yeah, it's obviously a CHOOSE-Day and I'm making this choice to be all positive!

Back to my Lipsticks!  (Whew!)  That was a long intro huh?

Do you still remember my first Mary Kay True Dimension Lipsticks review I did last year?  Feel free to click link if you forgot about it!  As for me, how can I forget such nicely packaged lipstick that took me a minute to open the cap?  It was so unique even Mr. AMW can't forget this particular line of lippie!  Yeah, took him minutes too!  I don't know why he didn't ask for help ... tsk tsk tsk..MEN!
