Party-Ready Look (Burgundy Make up Tutorial)

Hi AMW Friends!
I haven't worn full makeup in A WHILE!
Things have been busy but just the start of 2020, I've attended 1 wedding and 1 more next week!  So I have to brush off my make up game and created this look that I lot of you asked for!

It also helps if you style your hair differently!  Just simple curls and waves can make you look different that usual - different in a YOU-way!

Enjoy the video!  I apologize for the video format because this was originally made for IG TV!

Daily Crazy Rich Asian Look? By Choi Cosmetics

The most-buzzed movie for the year (in my opinion) is Crazy Rich Asians.  Would you believe I haven't gotten the chance to watch it?  But trust me, I  kind of know what Crazy Rich Asians do because I am surrounded by a lot of them in my line of work.

You know why I'm talking about the movie all of a sudden?  Because I was lucky enough to receive a makeup line called Christina Choi Cosmetics straight from San Francisco (speaking, I missed San Francisco!)

Christina Choi is an Asian American makeup guru who developed a line of cosmetics to address the challenges Asian women often face with mainstream makeup.

One item that I think was able to answer OUR major concern is their Deluxe Stamp Brush.  I'll talk about it more later, as for now, let me show you my "Daily version" of a Crazy Rich Asian look!

Okay, I did say I tried my very best.  Now let's talk about the Choi Cosmetics makeup items I used to create this simple yet colorful look!

Etude House Dreaming Swan Eye & Cheek Purple Look

Happy Leap Year!  I am sharing a super quick look using my newest Etude House purchase, the Etude House Dreaming Swan Eye & Cheek in Purple.  Instead of the usual product review, I'll just insert photos on how I have used this for the past few days and YOU share to me your thoughts if this is something I should keep or not!

At the back of my head, I am hoping you'd say: "KEEP IT!" :P

The Dreaming Swan collection comes in a total of 5 gorgeous shades (and packaging!)  Now, for the sake of easier "reading", I copied the shades from Etude House Philippines website

How To: Wear Pastel Makeup (and not look like a trying-hard-teenager)

If you are reading this post, the title probably caught your attention! :P
Before you go pointing fingers at me saying I'm trying so hard to look young, well, I'm not! :)  I just have a pastel colored eye shadows that I haven't touched and it's high time I use it and share to my readers who may be a bit beyond 30s (like me...ahem!  Okay, I'm waay beyond 30) and would like to know how to use pastel colored eye shadow without looking like a trying-hard full-blown adult woman trying hard to look like a teenager!

I hope not me! :P

First off...when you plan to wear pastel-colored eye shadow, it is very important to keep the rest of your face clean yet very simple!  Thus, I highly recommend to skip that full coverage foundation and let your skin breathe!  I opted for just a moisturizer, spot conceal key areas like my under eye circles, some redness around my nose and cheeks and set with a powder.

AMW Version: Enchanted Eyes

Happy Tuesday friends!  Everyone, all together... "OH EM GEE"!!!
Yes!  It's AMW Version! I actually did this makeup last week but I just remember posting about this today!  The reason why I got inspired to create an eye makeup is because I recently got a new eyeshadow palette from Human Nature called the Mineral Eyeshadow Enchanted Evening palette.

Here's the outcome and of course, I did use a different palette which I will show you as you scroll down!

 AMW Diagram

Step 1:
Prior to eyeshadow application, you can use an eyelid primer to make the eyeshadow more vibrant and stay longer.  In this tutorial I did not use any base.

With my Charm Blending Brush, I applied the purplish brown eyeshadow shade on the hallow of my eyes.  You can find this by tilting your head backwards and you will see the natural "depth" of your eyes.  Apply it there and blend with wiper motion.

 Step 2:
With a pencil brush, I've used the Charm Pencil Point Brush in applying the Silvery Gray eyeshadow from the same Human Nature Love Minerals palette on the outer-v.  Add as desired and do not forget to blend with a big fluffy blending brush.

With the same brush and same eyeshadow shade, apply this on the outer thirds of the lower lash line.

 Step 3:
I took out my first Lunasol pallette called EX02 Nature Summer Beige and applied a peachy eyeshadow with hint of gold shimmer on the inner third of the lid with a wet/dry eyeshadow brush.  (Tip: if you prefer this color to pop, apply this wet.)

Apply this similar shade with a clean pencil brush on the inner corner of the eyes including the inner lash line.

Step 4:
Lined my upper lash line with a liquid eyeliner.  I used Avon Extra Lasting Liquid Eyeliner in Glittery Black.

Filled my brows with MAC Coquette Eyeshadow, curled with Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
and applied coats of Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara in Black.

Enchanted Eyes --- done!

What's on the rest of my face?

For the face:

 For the Cheeks:
NYX Blush in Pinky
applied with Charm blush brush

Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Sandwashed Pink (photo is a sample size)
My bad, since I haven't been doing a lot of AMW versions lately, I forgot to take a full shot of my face!  *eeekk* Okay, blame my memory, its always filled with so many things ...darn! I know I'm too defensive!

*zips mouth* :x

Have a great day everyone! I hope Tuesday is better than Monday to all of you!
Keep smilin'
Stay happy!

AMW Version: Purples without the Black Eyed Peas

Happy Thursday! Sorry for the weird title!  Black Eyed Peas lover out there, don't hate me ok?  I just find the title unique and hoping it would catch your attention! (KSP kasi ako) :P

When it comes to purples, clients would always shy away and say: "I'm not that fair, it won't look good on me, I'll probably look like someone with black eye!"

I actually went through the similar stage when I was still studying make-up!  There are definitely a lot of practice and a lot of color combining done before I found a way to use purples on a daily basis without looking tired or messy!

Note that this is a toned down version because this look is meant for daytime!  Yes, you can wear it at work without getting strange looks from colleagues!

Tips
  • Try not to pile up a lot with a single shade of dark purple eyeshadow.
  • Use different shades of purples to have "3-dimensional effect."
  • Use at least 2 shades to create a purple look, one is any shade of purple while the other is a highlighter!  Could be golds, beige, etc...
  • Use an eye primer or eyeshadow base and pat on the dark eyeshadow to prevent fall outs.
  • For fall outs, do not use your fingers in wiping them off, gently brush the excess off with a big powder brush or fan brush!  *works ALL the time!*

AMW Diagram

Step 1:
It wasn't shown on photo but I actually applied Urban Decay Primer Potion all over lids.  Applied purple shade from Lancome Color Fan 6 Color Eyeshadow Palette.

Step 2:
With the same Lancome Color Fan 6 Color Eyeshadow Palette, use the shimmery gold eyeshadow on the inner corner of the eyes to create a "brigher" look!  This helps cast away the dark shadow that can make your eyes look tired!

Step 3:
For a fake "deeper set of eyes" look, I used a darker purple shade from my Sleek Divine Graphite Palette.

Step 4:
Apply eyeliner of your choice!  I always go for gel liners or liquid liners!  Pencil liners I use to tight line!

Drew my brows with Paul & Joe Eyebrow Pencil no. 2.  Curled my lashes and used Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Glamour Volume on Mascara in Black.

Here's a daytime, non-tiring eyes

AMW Version: Opening My Eyes with Purples

Purples has always been a challenge for most of us because it can either make you look sweet or the outcome could be "domestic violence".  I am quite lucky I can play around with purples without looking like  "My Husband Hits Me When We Argued".

Neutrals after Neutrals, I think its time to show some colors because summer is coming up!

AMW Diagram

Before we start:
Applied a good amount of Benefit Lemon Aid all over lids to "brighten up" the lid area at the same time, this act as an eyeshadow base.

Step 1:
Using L'Oreal Open Eyes Pro Palette 05, apply shimmery lilac eyeshadow all over lids going a bit beyond your lids for a nice base.  Using a pencil brush, apply a bit on the lower lash line.

Step 2:
Using the darkest purple color of the palette, gently sweet on the purple eyeshadow on the outer corner creating an illusion of deeper set eyes.

Step 3:
With the silver shadow, apply a bit more on the inner lids, patting motion would be better!

Step 4:
With a sponge applicator, apply the shimmery white powder on the inner corner of your eyes and a bit on the brow bone.

Step 5:
I needed a dark black shadow to create more "depth", with Sleek's Graphite palette, I chose the darkest metallic black to make my eyes bigger by applying a bit on the outer v.  Blending as the colors were packed.  With the same eye shadow, I used pencil brush to line the outer lower lash line to create a natural liner.

I gave false lashes a skip and decided to use what God has given me, my natural, non-existent lashes!  :)  I curled my lashes with Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, applied coats of Maybelline Magnum Volum' Express mascara in Black.

I filled my brows with Paul & Joe Eyebrow Pencil no. 2

I lined the upper lash line creating a tiny wing with ELF Cream Eyeliner in Black
