New Bag + Bag Collection

Things you will know about me after this post...
I love bags! Any kind of bags, it doesn't have to be super expensive or branded,
but I love bags that fit my personality and style.
I love a bag that represents me! A bag that's so ME! :D

Here's a new purchase :)

XOXO
Affectionate Bag

I like it that it's small yet spacious!

I carry around a lot of crap! LOL

And the most important thing
It fits my bag organizer perfectly!!!

I can still fit my makeup kit
and other miscellaneous!
Wonderful!

I purchased the XOXO Affectionate bag at Very Sexy Store, a multiply online seller, they are actually my friends so I know that they are trusted and their products are original and new. I bought this for Php2,050 (approx $43.00).

This cutey "Nikki" bag
will join my
Nikki's Bag Corner

These bags are collected over the years.
I do take care of my bags so it lasts long,

some are with me for more than 5 yrs :)

Askmewhats Asks:

"Are you a bag person?"

if so...
"Are you going for the branded ones or not?"
I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Askmewhats Reviews: The Face Shop Base Coat

Good happy day everyone!!!
Let me get back to my nail loving mojo!
Here's a requested review for The Face Shop's Base Coat!
I love The Face Shop branch at Glorietta, Makati, the sales staffs are super friendly! They are super nice, no pressure in forcing you to purchase anything and answers my queries well :) I'd buy from them anytime! :D

TFS Base Coat says ---

This soft base coat creates a strong bond between nail color and nail which prevents future chipping peeling and splitting.

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • affordable
  • dries quickly
  • doesn't change the color of your polish
  • it's just nice to know that I got a protective coat between my nails and the polish
  • not too runny or too thick, consistency is just right
  • there is a huge difference of using a basecoat, my nails are SUPER hard compared to the weak nails I have before
Cons
  • none
Overall

I have decided, to purchase this together with my HG Top Coat which is The Face Shop Top Coat. Both of these work so well on my nails that my nail art doesn't chip or peel even after 1 full week! And no, I'm not a princess, I do work! I wash dishes, I do chores like there's no polish on my nails. I also type really fast and hard for the whole day at work and night time blogging! If my nails can talk, they are screaming their cuticle out! LOL

The Face Shop base coat is harder to review as it's beneath the nail polish, in the long run, I may do a revisit, but I am impressed for now!

Tips
  • apply 1-2 coat, let dry before applying the base color
  • always twist the polish tightly for it to stay longer
  • keep polishes in an airtight plastic to prolong the life of all your polishes
Will I repurchase?

Yes! I already bought backups!

Where can you purchase and how much?

At The Face Shop stores for Php99.00 (approx $2.00)

Close up look on the Base Coat

I still alternate my Sally Hansen base and top coat with The Face Shop one. I may purchase The Face Shop one in the future as it's cheaper.

Have a wonderful weekend!

CS Gel Liners vs. MM Gel Liners

You gals thought this showdown will take long???
Why would I do that? I love my readers so much so I try to do what they want...
well except..dance around naked...or....stop blogging! LOL

*ahem ahem, wrestling announcer voice*
Introducing,
the most requested showdown!
CS gel liners versus MM gel liners!!!

Packaging

CS - frosted glass jar with plastic cap, small and easy to take along but no label
MM - clear glass, size is bigger than CS, labeled

Price
(not including shipping)

CS - $6.95 (approx Php330.00)
MM - $7.95 - 9.00 (approx Php390.00-440.00)

Amount of product

CS - 3g
MM - 3g

Gel Color

Black
CS True Black - matte, darker than MM (can create a more dramatic dark eyed look)
MM Inky Black- matte, plain black (creates a natural look, can build up the color for dramatic look)

Brown
CS Truffle- matte, reddish brown
MM Cocoa - matte, real brown

Texture

Black
CS True Black - very creamy, spreads easily but have to wait a bit for drying time
MM Inky Black - creamy, spreads easily, shorter drying time. I like this texture more

Brown
CS Truffle - not too creamy, a bit on the drier side but spreads really well
MM Cocoa - same texture with MM Inky Black, just the right kind of creaminess, easy to spread the color

Drying time

Black
CS True Black - due to it's texture, has to wait a bit to make sure completely dry
MM Inky Black - dries right after application, no waiting time, imagine using a pencil liner

Brown
CS Truffle - dries right after application, no waiting time
MM Cocoa - dries right after application, no waiting time

Smudging Factor

Black
CS - no smudging when completely dry, but if it's not too dry yet and you rub it accidentally, it smudges a bit (photo below, and I only talk about the CS True Black color)
MM - once you applied, it doesn't budge and smudge

**note, if you let CS liner dry up further before smudging
there won't be any smudges

Brown
CS Truffle - no smudging
MM Cocoa - color doesn't smudge but it disappears if you rub SUPER hard

**Note: I rubbed this super hard! Look at the redness of my wrist!

How long does it stay on your eyes?
(for both colors)

CS - the lashline stays long until you remove it. For the waterline, it starts to smudge a bit after 4-5 hours.
MM - the lashline area stays long until you remove it. For the waterline, it is the same with CS, it smudges depending on how watery your eyes are

Versatility and usage (for both colors)

CS - the other colors can be used as base
MM - I'm not sure if the other colors for MM gel liners can also be used as base

CONCLUSION ---

Both liners work well. It all boils down to your own preference. If you ask me who the winner is for me, I personally go for MM Gel Liners. Why? Because I own a lot of shades of CS gel liners and I find that their gel liners aren't consistent. Though the price of MM gel liners are more expensive, I still save up a lot on shipping as I can have free shipping for orders $20.00 above. Or even if I don't get to order products more than $20.00, shipping is affordable and costs less than $5.00.

Of course, these are my opinion. Feel free to let me know your thoughts if you also own these 2 brands! :)

I hope this helps to ladies out there!
Feel free to comment or email me for any questions! :)

  • consistency is wonderful
  • very pigmented colors
  • easy to remove with make-up remover
  • affordable
  • very nice glass packaging
  • they are all labeled well
  • the product will last me for more than a year, til it gets expired
Cons
  • for those who doesn't have online purchasing power, these won't be available for them
Overall

I am so excited to try this new gel liner. Everyone knows my HG Gel Liner is my Stila Smudgepot, but my Stila Smudgepot is getting drier as days goes by as I've used it for quite some time. I tried checking at Strawberrynet where I bought my Stila and they don't sell it anymore. So a back-up plan for a gel liner is very important for me. I own Coastal Scents Gel Liner and I can't wait to try these 2 out.

Be patient, I will definitely do a review for both CS Gel Liners and MM Gel Liners! Who will win? Wait and see.

I like the Inky Black and Cocoa MM Gel Liners, the colors are not sheer and it's not too dark. I actually used these liners for a couple of days without using an eyeshadow base, my eyeshadow disappeared and creases on me, but the MM Gel Liner stayed put. I also like that the gel liner isn't too runny or moussey in consistency so it dries up quickly right after application.

I advise everyone to still use products reviewed here with caution, some people could be irritated with certain products so if your eyes are itchy after application, do wash them immediately and STOP using the product. That goes for ALL PRODUCTS we use.

This gel liner is already my personal favorite, I reach out for both of these every morning!

Tips
  • always practice with different eyeliner brushes and find which one is more comfortable for you to use in gel liner application
  • always start with a thin line going thick as desired
  • gently run the brush on the gel liner, do not dip the brush into the gel liner and create a HUGE hole, less is definitely MORE with these liners
  • close the cap tightly so this won't dry up easily
  • apply close to the lash line for a more natural look
  • this CAN be applied on waterline but you have to test it first, it CAN irritate other people's eyes
Will I repurchase?

Yes! MM Gel Liners are available in different colors too! I am dead! lol

Where to purchase and how much?

At Makeup Mix Shop
$7.95 for Inky Black and Cocoa (approx Php380.00)
$9.00 for the rest of the colors (approx Php440.00)
free shipping worldwide for orders $20.00 above

Here are visuals
to satisfy your curiosity

Labeled with MM logo
and color name

This may look bigger than CS
but the amount of product is the same with CS
3g worth of gel liner

Feel free to click to enlarge
This is how Inky Black Looks

Very pigmented and pretty!

I used CS White Angled Liner brush

MM Gel Liner in Cocoa

A rich real brown color
Not reddish brown

but Real Matte Brown

I created a thin and thick line

using CS Pink Angled Taklon Brush

And here's my recent
Everyday Ullzang Look
Using MM Gel Liner in Inky Black :)

I will try to do a face off between
CS and MM Gel Liners!
Please be patient :)

I know a lot of you have bought from the Masala shop too!
I want to hear your thoughts on these liners too! :)

Nail Art Tutorial: Spring Time Greens

Hello People of the World! :)

I spent my weekend with my nails! On Saturday I went to a salon for my manicure and pedicure and went out with bare nails. The lady was too funny, she kept on asking who did my nails and how long I had it on. I said: "A week!" and she demanded: "Why do you want to remove them?" LOL I got so embarrassed because the other clients are looking at me already thinking that I'm a high maintenance whore who wants to change my nail polish weekly.

Well...it's true!

I love changing it weekly not because I want to look pretty, it's because I honest-to-goodness love doing nail art! I may not be great with it but hey! It's pure love and passion we're talking about! LOL

As seen in my previous post, I've bought a couple of new polishes but nothing inspired me to use them. I searched through my collection and found this polish I have and never used :) It's PERFECT for Spring and Summer! :) Hope you like it!

Step 1:

Apply 2 coats of lime green polish. I use Maybelline's Colorama in Neon green . Let dry.

Step 2:

Using my yellow nail art pen, apply a line over the tip of your nails. French Tip version.

You can stop here if you like it simple

Step 3:

Using any clear polish, apply it over the french tip Lime-yellow nails...

While wet, drop in dots for petals. Use any color you want. This is the fun part! Combining different colors and making it work :)

Step 4:

Use needle to drag the dots. If you're a reader of my nail art tutorial, you know why I do this step :)

Do this to both flowers :)

Step 5:

Add some extra "oomph" on the nail art :)

Step 6:

I like glittery nails, so I apply Elianto's Glitter polish over the nails.
. Top with a top coat again.

This could be my version of St. Patrick Day Nails too!
But I find this more on a spring look! :)
I hope you like it!
