Weekend Food Tripping at: Korean Village

Remember I told you guys that I will tell you about my ultimate favorite Korean Restaurant ever? Here it is!!! This is not only my favorite, but my husband's fave and also...the favorite Korean restaurant of my mom and dad in-laws! They actually dated here when they were still young (Can you just imagine how many years this restaurant has been operating?)

This is a family affair so we have more food ordered!!! Enjoy the gastronomic photos! Just typing this post made me hungry over and over again!

Here goes the food posts....I do apologize for the ugly appetizer photos!
We came in late and it was left this way LOL

The famous Korean Fried Rice, yummy!
I like it that they have loads of veggies, chicken bits

Barbeque Chicken! You can order Pork or Beef
We had 2 orders of chicken!
Boy I love chicken! (but I can't eat too much, allergies) lol

Here's the cooked bbq chicken
Can eat as it is but we ordered Lettuce(not on pix, sorry forgot)
Their lettuce are the freshest ever!

We were told this is their new dish
The Asparagus Mushroom

Beef Stew (Korean Styled) yummmm

My hubby's ever favorite Chicken & Mushroom

Cold Soba Noodle
I love the taste of cucumber, you eat this by dipping the noodles in an ice cold water
(as seen on the black bowl beside the noodle)

Can you believe this that everything we ate costs only Php 1,560.00? (approx $36.00)
We are so full and happy!
I am hoping my kids will be able to eat in this restaurant
and they'll be blogging about their "parents" and "grandparents" having a date in this resto :D

The Paul & Joe Protective Foundation Collection Launch

I am seriously a P&J addict, and this is not a good addiction!
You know why? P&J is honestly very expensive!

But don't get me wrong, I am buying what I know works for me and works for most of the people I put make-up on. I swear on Paul & Joe foundations as they are indeed made for Asian Skin.
I have used their Creamy Foundation to the Moisturizing Cream Compact Foundation to their Powder Foundation and I love them all! They have coverage but you looked so fresh and natural afterwards. I can't seem to stop saying good stuffs about them.

When they messaged me regarding this launch/event, my hubby knew how much I wanted to stock on their foundies so he drove me all the way to Rustan's Makati for this event. The event started at 4PM but we were late, due to traffic and it took us almost 30 minutes to look for a parking space! Anyways, I am still happy I was there and nice to see the lovely Brand Manager of P&J Raizelle and the lovely staffs of P&J who made me feel at home! I wish I have the whole P&J counter at HOME! *wish wish wish*

We have tables, we have mini cupcakes served and we have the new P&J Protective Foundation and Primer on the table for people to test on. What I love about this new collection is that it has more moisturizing properties and they still have sunscreen!

We had this BINGO game, Ms. Raizelle (the one in Pink) was the one who hosted the game.
I ALMOST won!!! Darn! I didn't !!!! lol

** on the side note, those who want to see my hair? LOL
that's me in green nearest to the camera

Let me show you my super mini haul!
Like I said, I am focused on buying what I need
as I still have whatever I bought from P&J from the past.
Here's my mini haul (yes, I am a good girl, I stopped myself from buying a lot!)

** L-R Eau de Toilette (Freebie)
P&J Dual Foundation UV Php2,150.00 (approx $49.00)
P&J Protective Foundation Primer UV Php1,650.00 (approx $38.00)

They also gave us discount coupons for us to have some freebies/discounts when we return

After shopping, I had to have something to drink! lol It's been sometime since I last had a shake. I ordered Mango, Banana and Apple shake from the Juice Avenue.
Look at what's written on the cup, so cute!

**Yup, I'm wearing the new P&J Protective Foundation! I love it!

I swear on P&J foundation
I also love my MAC Studio Fix

What's your HG foundation?

Happy weekend!

Shu Uemura VS Fanny Serrano Eyelash Curler

I know a lot of comparisons has been done between Shu Uemura and Shiseido...
I never owned a Shiseido lash curler
I've had my fair share of plastic lash curlers, really cheap lash curlers etc...
Since I'm a die-hard magazine reader, I've read 2 years ago on the Cosmopolitan yearly award on the Splurge vs. Save portion and there I've seen the Fanny Serrano Eyelash curler won the Cosmo award as a good Dupe for the Shu Uemura curler.
Considering it's price, for less than Php200.00! (approx $4.00) compared to Shu's Php1,000 (approx $22.00), I'm definitely giving this a try!

So here's my head to head comparison of the expensive vs. the cheap! :)

(again, this is just my opinion, feel free to comment)

Side by side, you can see that the Shu Uemura curler is a bit bigger, in terms of the arm, the head, but as you can see, the FS curler looks like a medium sized version of the Shu.

Check out the head, they both have the brand name written/carved. The Shu curler is wider and bigger while the FS curler is a bit more curved.

The FS curler being more curved, it is a li'l bit difficult to reach the short lashes that I have. (Just a teeny bit difficult)

Top view, again as stated, the Shu is wider compared to the FS, but the foam used, well in my opinion, they are "almost" identical, same black, same silicon pad "feeling" !

And here's a close up shot on the "arm/latch".

The Shu Uemura Curler ---

Pros
  • does its job in curling my lashes
  • easy to reach the "hard to reach" part
  • fits my eye

Cons
  • pinches my left eye
  • expensive
  • can change pad upto 2x and you have to buy a new one
The Fanny Serrano Eyelash Curler ---

Pros
  • can easily buy the refill, can use the curler longer (can be lifetime if you take care of this)
  • the refills can be purchased in all beauty stores for a pack of 3 for less than Php100 (approx $3.00)
  • very affordable
  • does its job in curling my lashes

Cons
  • pinches my left eye (same with Shu, even Shiseido! I borrowed from my friend)
  • that's all! I can't find any con for now
Overall?

To be honest, both curlers work for me! I find that when I curl my left eye, both eyelash curler pinches my eye so i have to use my finger to "LIFT" my left eye manually as I think I have extra skin on my left eye or something.

If you are on a budget, the FS is A-OK. If you have the extra moolah! then go for the Shu. Both works for me, I alternate in using them so that my Shu doesn't get too "molested" LOL <--- what a term! I am not sure if FS is available for our international readers, it's definitely available in all beauty shops in the Philippines. Fanny Serrano by the way is a name of a famous make-up artist here in the Philippines. He's got a whole range of good cosmetics that are affordable and of good quality! :)

Have you curled your lashes lately?

Do you think curling your lashes makes a huge difference to your overall look?

Askmewhats Reviews: Changpo Magic Straight Treatment

Changpo, have I ever told you that I love you?
Yeah, I did, I think I told you I love you as a Shampoo and a Conditioner
But now, I'm loving you as a treatment!

Do I have to use your whole line?

Well I guess I am!

Have I told you that you smell so good?

I did?

Well, I'm telling you once again,

Gee...you make my hair smells terrific!

** Available at The Face Shop for Php355 (approx $8.00)

Askmewhats Says ---

A little bit of background on my hair, my hair was rebonded a couple of years ago, and it's not super wavy but it's not naturally straight as well. As you know, when your locks are growing, the natural texture of your hair will show up which ain't good to look at. Weekly treatments are super important for me. Since the Changpo Magic Straight Shampoo and Conditioner worked so well on me (so well that I am finishing up my 3rd combo), I've thought about buying this treatment for some time now. I gave in! After I finished up my Lux Treatment.

Again, these are my personal opinion, a certain product could work on me but not to everyone! :)

Pros
  • Very rich and creamy in texture
  • Smells so good
  • the softness stays for 4 days now, and still counting
  • it indeed flattened my hair (not the limpy kind)

Cons
I don't see much cons for now, the only concern is that, with me using this 3x a week, with my long hair, I'm just not sure if it would last a month! LOL

Tips
  • apply 2x a week for normal hair, apply 3x a week for dry damaged hair
  • the instruction says leave it for 3-5 minutes, i leave it around 10minutes!
  • use a shower cap, scrub your body, sing, dance while waiting for the time OR if you can't wait...
  • just towel dry your hair, put this treatment on, use a shower cap and just do your house chores! You don't have to stay inside the shower right? Not unless you need to clean the toilette? *winks*
  • concentrate on the roots and also the ends of your hair! <--- driest and oldest part of your hair.

Will I repurchase?

Yes! Of course! I am planning to stock!

My Hair Accessories

Before I got super addicted to make-up, I first got addicted to hair accessories!
When I knew that I'll be working overseas for a year, I knew I had to bring all my hair accessories! How would I do that?
Well, that's what organizers are for! I bought this at SM Sta. Mesa (SM Centerpoint then) for approx Php400.00 ($10.00) and I'm sure the price is different now. I love this organizer because its foldable..and you can hang it anywhere! :)

Looking at this made me go back to the time I pack everything, and I put this on top of all my belongings just to protect this from being "smashed" lol

Awww, still looks new right? It's with me for 7 years now! :D
See how good I take care of stuffs? LOL

Here it is now, in my humble room! With my hair accessories
Of course these are not all, I have given out most of my hair accessories as I grew older!
Very useful, easy access! :D

Are you into hair accessories?
Tell me!
Where do you put all your hair stuffs?
Spill!

Askmewhats Version: Laura Mercier Quad Look

After doing a review on my newly purchased Laura Mercier Quad that I got on sale. Readers have been suggesting that I do a look with this quad. It took me a "typhoon" day to be able to stay at home and play around with this quad.

So here goes my LM "blue sky" quad look without anything except well..all 4 colors of the quad! So whatever eyeliner you think I have on, is just my LM e/s and I've used a liner brush to brush it on the lids for depth. For the swatch and product review, please Smile and say "LM Blue Sky!"

Products Used ---

LAURA MERCIER QUAD in SKY BLUE

At first, I thought it was difficult to use all 4 colors together, but after putting them all on my lids, I find the colors are quite easy to blend and easy to use. I've used them as highlighter, eyeliner and it didn't smudge, I let it stay for more than 2 hours and I didn't have any "domestic violence" look :)

Shall I go out with this look?
Or do you think I have to use other products with this quad?
Feel free to comment
but break it to me gently...
it's the time of the month! LOL

Tip for the Day: My Elianto 10x e/s Palette

I am in love with all my eyeshadows and I wanted all of them to have a good home as much as possible. I have my MAC pro palette and I am happy with it. (still filling it up at the moment). As seen in my previous haul, I've purchased 4 Ulta eyeshadows and for someone who needs to travel with their make-up and with such small traincase space, I really love depotting my e/s! But where shall I put them? I can't put them in my MAC pro palette as Ulta shadows, Elianto and the Face Shop e/s are all bigger than the regular MAC e/s size.

Good thing I've found a very good palette home to my bigger e/s! The Elianto 10pcs e/s palette!

It's very simple, it's sleek, it's black, it's pretty...

** Available at all Elianto stores for Php350.00 (approx $8.00)

Elianto has a couple of other "kinds" of eyeshadow and blushes palette. I chose this one because this is very slim and affordable! All palettes from Elianto are not magnetic, so you can either choose : Foam type (to fit the e/s in) or the Sticker type (wherein you'll use a double sided tape to tape your e/s inside. I chose the Foam Type, here's how it looks like inside...

Since I'm "no ordinary" gal, I wanted to decorate my simple palette, I was trying to find a big sticker big enough for the whole palette, but to no avail, I can't seem to find any at that moment and I am in desperation to be creative (yes, if something came up to my mind, I have to acknowledge it right away or else..bye bye ideas! lol), I went to the National Bookstore and went to the "scrapbooking" section and bought "border" stickers instead. As seen below, the designs are different but what the heck? I want it unique and creative!!! Thanks to my hubby for helping me cut this so perfectly...if I did this on my own...well..I won't even post it! LOL

Here's a photo with my depotted Ulta eyeshadows!!! I need more more more!!!! LOL (well specifically 6 more! lol)

What other e/s can fit in here...?
Aside from the Face Shop, Elianto and Ulta?
You know what I'm thinking? If I can't fit them all, I'll just put my NYX single e/s in there!
Maybe...cut the foam or something....
But......I am still hoping to be able to buy more Ulta e/s for now! lol

Weekend Food Tripping at: Flapjacks

I celebrated Father's Day with my dad late...I've been busy on Father's day because of the make-up gigs. I was too tired to go out to have dinner with them. I told my dad it's better late than never, so me and my hubby decided to celebrated Father's day with my family this weekend. So it's another weekend food tripping!

I wanted to treat my dad somewhere special, somewhere we never tried before. So my hubby and I literally checked out all the "possible" restaurants at the mall and we finally gave in to a place called "FlapJacks". We heard so much about Flapjacks because of the morning radio show we love to listen to 89.9 and we heard how Mo Twister love this place so much because of their good customer service.

So, here we go! Here's how the lovely menu looks like....

The area isn't big but I love the ambience, the decors are lovely, they have one flat screen tv and the cartoon version of Mr. Bean was on! So we weren't bored while waiting for my family to arrive.

Can I say that they offer bottomless drinks for only Php75.00? (approx $1.75)
and look how cute the coke glass is!

So now, the FUN part...the food pix!!!

Here's what my dad and I ordered
The Chicken Fried Steak
Php 325.00 (approx $7.50)

My take on this is that, the potatoes are lovely, the scrambled eggs are lovely, but the chicken itself? I love how big the serving is and how crunchy it is, but it tastes....a bit bland. I think what they can do is add more spices on it. My dad ended up adding Tomato Ketchup on top of the gravy! LOL But overall, it's ok! nothing superb!

Next, my mom ordered
Beef Salpicao
Php425.00 (approx $10.00)

My mom's take on this? The rice is lovely, the scrambled eggs with tomatoes tastes heavenly, but the Beef Salpicao is too salty for her taste!

My hubby's order
Country Ham
Php390.00 (approx$9.00)

I think this is the best meal we ordered! My hubby ordered this and he loved the thickness of the ham yet it is soft enough to chew. It's sweet yet super tasty. It was cooked just right, doesn't taste like the normal ham you ordered out of the supermarket freezer! The salad tastes great as well! trust me, I've tasted it and I'm a salad eater! Thumbs up on this one!

My brother's order
Steak and Eggs
Php450.00 (approx $11.00)

My brother ordered this in medium rare, changed the potato order into garlic rice. Egg will be sunny side-up and the beef came with bacon topped on it. Overall, I gave this lovely a li'l taste myself and it is good! I am not an expert steak eater to be honest, but I like this! Not my kind of meal but I like it!

Now, I'm getting excited to talk about this....Flapjacks are famous for their pancakes and because of their promo flyer they give out, you get to have a free pancake of your choice for every Php 250.00 (approx $5.00) you ordered. One table can avail only 1 freebie, but the manager is super nice he offered us 2 orders of free pancakes of our choice! YAY!!!

The Triple Choco Chip Pancake
Php220.00 (approx $4.50)

I can taste Hershey chocolate syrup and the mini kisses are lovely!!!! Love love love this!!! Forget about my diet! lol (as if I'm dieting)

Double Blueberry Pancake
Php220.00 (approx $4.50)

I am not a fruit pancake eater...but I gotta try this when they told me this is their specialty! Boy!!! They're NOT joking!!! this tastes heavenly, the warmth of the pancake plus the sweetness of the blueberry? I am in heaven!!! We finished this up like there's no tomorrow! lol

Before I end this post, I have to say this...Flapjacks is famous not because of their food, in my opinion, they have the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE ever!!! We never had to raise our hands 2x or call their attention again and again as the waiter was always alert and always attend to our needs. We even felt embarrassed that he would change our plates or get us new plates even when we didn't even ask them to! They always serves with a smile and you really would feel like a VIP! We felt so good and we didn't even care that our food isn't perfect, we went out really happy!

Flapjacks Restaurant Midtown
Located at Robinson's Midtown Manila

Are you somewhere in Manila?
Give this restaurant a visit!
You can enjoy their ambiance, their pancakes or just their customer service!
Feel special! As we all deserve it!
Thanks Flapjacks for such a great customer service!
I'll definitely come back!
