Michiko Hair Color Shampoo Review

I don't know about you but I am stressed with random white hairs popping out from top of my head every month after coloring!  Why can't you just appear maybe after at least a quarter or so?

I do not look my age, a lot of my friends who are being nice to me would always say.  But my hair is definitely giving the "STOP FAKING YOUR AGE!" trend.  Do you have to be that ARROGANT in showing off super white hair???? :P

Shame on you.  This girl ain't going down!

Thankfully, I got to discover Michiko Hair Color Shampoo (Available HERE) from a good friend.

Michiko Hair Color Shampoo Review

Michiko Haircare is made from all natural ingredients so no offensive smell! Easy to apply like how you would when you shampoo your hair.  Start applying to the regrowth area then I would massage all over hair and cover it with shower cap as I watch my favorite K-Drama.

Michiko Hair Color Shampoo Review

There's a small hint of Chinese medicinal scent but definitely better than chemical scent.  It does not sting my scalp and I used 2 packs of shade Chestnut Brown 2x already since I learned about this product.

It is said to last around 4-6 weeks but I was able to extend it to almost 3 months because I use Purple Shampoo and conditioner.

Hello Caramel Brown!

Since the break of COVID-19, you've probably noticed how I have been doing "professional' thing at home.  Such as haircut, hair color and even nail care!

I used to regularly go to my favorite salon Hairshaft Salon for my hair color, but not going to salon doesn't mean I will just leave my white hair peeking out!  Thankful I have a Mister who is used to coloring my hair even before I started blogging!

Revlon Colorsilk Luminista in Caramel Brown

I bought Revlon Colorsilk Luminista online at Shopee under Revlon Mall. It costs Php425.00 and I am very happy with this product line.  The old Revlon Hair Color I've tried have a strong chemical smell and dried my hair.  The Colorsilk Luminista smells better, my husband did not complain about the scent and I love how even the color was!

Revlon Colorsilk Luminista in Caramel Brown

Best of all, with proper conditioning and care, my hair was back to its' healthy state unlike other hair coloring treatment which ended up drying my hair!

Revlon Colorsilk Luminista in Caramel Brown

I will definitely repurchase the Colorsilk Luminista, something probably lighter but Caramel Brown is really beautiful!  What do you think?

Keep smilin'
Stay happy!

Erase and Rewind

How do I erase and rewind?
Well, aside from a quick staycation with the family, don't get me wrong, I do have "me-time" din naman!  And usually, "me-time" pertains to me spending 1 full day driving myself to my favorite "beautifying" places, kahit na opposite directions pa sila!  That's how worth the visit they are!

First stop:  NAILS
As much as I know how to do my own nails, I crave for that manicure pedicure session with a side trip of short-yet-sweet massages between cuticle care.  I usually do not go to any nail salons because I got hurt so many times with nail artists with heavy hands!  (If you can relate, pa-share naman your experiences here!)

I've had once where 8 out of 10 of my toes were bleeding from a super "robotic" nail technician who didn't seem to hear my complaints and screams!  I was too young back then so I just kept my mouth shut and bear the pain!

Obviously, I've matured (bakit ang haba ng kwento ko?  LOL), so I make sure to pick a place where they do not only take care of your nails, I have high requirements for staffs too!  They should be friendly, but also knew when to give you that much needed "quiet time".

That's me with the friendly staffs of Nailaholics, Glorietta Branch.  Since I'm always in a rush, I always go for manicure and pedicure session with a quick polish application.

Of course, if you have more time than I do, feel free to try their other services like Foot Spa, Hand and Foot Paraffin and so much more!  They have packages for you to choose.

Then, there's brows!  I have my brows fixed at Benefit Brow Bar at least once a month.  Obviously, my schedule depends on where I will be so I actually rounded up all branches of Benefit Brow Bars and truthfully, I can't seem to pick a favorite as I get 101% good service from all the Brow Artists!  Holler to all the Benefit Brow Artists who has done my brows (ang dami nila!)  They are all super friendly, professional and really good!

Always ask them to shape and teach you how to do your brows after Brow Wax session.  I like how my brows changes PER brow artist, I get a good look on how my face changes on different brow styles and shapes!

New Year, New Look!

As much as I thought I won't have any "me" time before year ends, I'm glad I was wrong!  My schedule for the 27th freed up a bit and my mom-in-law can help me look after Kyle for the whole day so I've decided to squeeze in as many things I can do in a day (para sulit ang biyahe)

I was scheduled for a Post-Christmas get-together with good friends for brunch and decided to take a short trip at Benefit Greenbelt Branch for my much-deserved brows!  (By the way, I've tried ALL their Brow Experts on Almost ALL branches in Metro Manila, they are all good!)

Traffic isn't that bad from Makati to Ortigas so I've decided to finally go all the way to Podium for a Hairshaft Salon date with Angela.

Angela was my "Hair angel" who recommended me to Fred Penales of Hairshaft salon and I told her I got hooked with his magical hands when it comes to hair color!  I was SHOCKED when I entered the salon as the place was packed with women with the same goal as me: "New Hair for the New Year!"  No matter how busy the place was, I still see a lot of smiles and laughter from the staffs which made me feel comfortable immediately!

Brown Hair, Brown Lips!

I've finally shifted to a more mature role... *laughs*
I always associate brown with the 90's, and 90's would mean...Melrose Place, Beverly Hills 90210 (Jenny Garth, Shannon Doherty days ha) *laughs*  Now my age is too obvious.

But I remembered watching these girls wanting their makeup but I can't wear makeup back then!  I grew up in a conservative Chinese Family so I had to wait for years after to finally take the plunge on browns...not today but it was only when I started Blogging.

Today, I'm going back to my roots.... well, literal na roots because I had my hair colored too!

AMW wears... L'Oreal Color Riche in browns....

These shades are inspired by the yummy chocolates and I appreciate how they are in various tones of pinkish browns, red browns and orange browns!

These are matte lipsticks that aren't drying and definitely wearable for both day and night!  All the shades featured here have their own "specialty" and I believe no matter what complexion you have, you can definitely pick at least one shade that would work for you!

I Took the Plunge and Went RED!

Using Etude House Hot Style Salon Cream!
When I saw these boxes at Etude House stores, I've been meaning to try them so many times but I just don't have the chance color my own hair because of my extremely busy schedule!  As you all know, HairShaft salon did my most recent #SignatureTones in Ash Brown and I got good feedback!  But since my hair color is getting lighter by the minute and I don't have time to go to a salon for now, I went to Etude House branch near me and purchased an at-home-color-kit in Cherry Red Brown.

a photo of Etude House Hot Style Salon Cream in Cherry Red Brown

Please keep in mind results will vary!  I had "balayage-d" hair prior to this and the ash brown color made this color a bit unique and not too red as compared to the photo on box!  But overall, the Etude House Hot Style Salon Cream is easy to use!  It comes with a plastic to protect your clothing, hand gloves and a comb/brush for hair coloring!  I appreciate that the cream consistency is easy to use and the free hair treatment is actually a nice ending to my hair coloring journey!

My hair actually felt less dry, frizzy and the color actually popped!  Mr. AMW actually liked it and told me he has a new wife! :P

Hairshaft Balayage and Brazilian Blowout Review

If you follow me on Instagram (@AskMeWhats), you've probably seen this photo of me smiling THIS BIG while caressing my tresses!  hahaha Silly me, but that's how I feel whenever I touch my hair --- giddy AND silly!  I am so in love with my refreshed Balayage Ash Tone Brown Color which is a Signature Tone that I've done for the second time around at Hairshaft Podium under the magical hands of Fred Penales.

a photo of Hairshaft Balayage and Brazilian Blowout

If you follow my "hair color" journey, you know that I've done a lot of hair coloring for the past years!  I've done "boxed treatment" (Hello Revlon and L'Oreal!), I've done random salon visits and recently, it was with HairShaft Salon that I got the MOST COMPLIMENTS!

Whenever I post photos of me reviewing a product or me endorsing ANOTHER product, readers tend to comment about my hair and ask what the color it is!  So today, is the day, I'm formally spilling the beans!  (May formal pa talaga!)

I have to thank my dear friend Angela for introducing me to HairShaft Salon!  Given my busy schedule, I wouldn't go ALL the way to Podium to have my hair done if not because of the constant "Hair Date" invite from Lush Angel I had to give in!  (hehehe, napilitan pa talaga ako no?)  But seriously, I have to thank her for introducing me to the master of hair color Fred because I really love the result!  It was actually a planned hair-date with both Angela and Alyssa but we weren't able to take photos together!

Now let's talk about Hairshaft Salon, they have a branch at Podium, Fort and recently, I spotted a soon-to-be-opend HairShaft Salon on my turf!  Robinsons Place Ermita!  I haven't visited the other branches because I want to make sure Mr. Fred is there whenever I visit the Podium Branch.  Thankfully, he was there giving all smiles to ALL the customers no matter how jampacked the salon was when I visited last week!

HairShaft Podium Balayage Experience #Fredified

When Angela visited me during my salon treatment more than a year ago, I knew back then that she will be my perfect "hair salon date"!  No amount of blow-drying and hairwashing can stop us from sharing stories!

And as you all know, I had my last Hair Coloring Treatment done at Vivere Salon last April, it has been more than half a year so my hair badly needs some TLC.  And that day finally arrived!

All thanks to my dear hair-salon friend Angela for working around my schedule to have our hair #Fredified !  I've seen how her hair transformed (all #Fredified) and they all look amazing!  So I mentioned to her I definitely wanted to tag along with her on her next salon trip!

I love my ash brown color which I have been sporting for more than a year!  But I seriously needed a change and I'm definitely comfortable to have it done at HairShaft salon!  If you search for the hashtag #Fredified on Instagram, you'll definitely see amazing hair transformation so I'm really excited to leave my hair to the hands of the hair master Mr. Fred Penales.

Mid-Year Gift-Giving Ideas

Hi AMW friends!  You are probably surprised seeing this Mid-Year Gift-Giving ideas.  It's not even Christmas and it's not even a countdown to Christmas.

Well, why not?  I realized, we don't need holidays to be generous!  I am a strong believer of making people who matters to you happy anytime of the day!  And of course, doing good deed (non-material thing) is priceless but sometimes, it would help to give some material things that you think would matter to the receiver!  And after looking at the products inside my home, I can't help but think of the people who would appreciate these thus came the blog post: "Mid-Year Gift-Giving Ideas".

And as always, feel free to add the list so we can all share gift-giving ideas and how it can make anyone's day extra special!

For the Hair Lovers
Me!  And probably you?  My big sister too!  My favorite gift-giving guide for hair loving friends are "Hair Treatment".  Deep conditioning treatment as inexpensive as those from Watson's (Buy 1 Take 1 offer) or as pricey as those from Kerastase.  It really depends on my budget.  But on days you just want to say: "Just because I thought of you", a simple shampoo and conditioner combination could be a deal breaker!  I would happily accept a shampoo and conditioner set just like the ones I recently received.  It actually made my day because I may have bouncy hair every time you see me, it took me some time to reach to that "level of bounciness"!  With the help of my trustee flat iron or curling iron!

And on days I don't have time, I may gift this shampoo and conditioner a try from Dove.

The Dove Oxygen and Nourishment Solutions
This pair is said to address our #FlatHairProblems so I can't wait to give this a try!

Salon Review: Vivere Salon, Robinsons Place Manila

When was the last time I visited a salon?
I can't seem to remember!  My hair length as of the moment is probably the longest I've had for the past 10 years.  Not a choice by the way!  But it is because for the fact that I don't have time to pamper myself!

On weekdays, I'm doing my Consultant job in an Executive Search firm, in between hours I attend events and meet up with clients for meetings.  On a weekend, I'm usually out for a workshop or off prettifying someone.  On Sundays, that's a family day, as much as possible I free it up to visit my family so that (kinda) is the summary of how my life is since I became a mom!

Again, not complaining there!  But my hair probably is!

Vivere Salon recently invited me for an event but I can't seem to pry myself away from my son on that day because no one will look after him!  Thankfully, the Vivere Salon team are nice enough to give me a Saturday Slot at the branch of my choice!  I chose Robinsons Manila because that is nearer to where I live.
